Old US 25 south through Berea and Livingston → Renfro Valley → Corbin → KY 90 to Cumberland Falls → night drive home
Stops
Renfro Valley
The old barn-dance village and the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. Show schedules vary — worth a look.
Sanders Café & Museum
The actual 1940s restaurant where Harland Sanders perfected Kentucky Fried Chicken — restored dining room, model motel room, free museum, working KFC, open daily (verified). Eat a drumstick at ground zero.
Cumberland Falls
The 68-foot Niagara of the South. Daytime rainbows in the mist are nearly guaranteed. Nobody swims at the falls — ever.
Dog Slaughter Falls
Terribly named, wonderfully made: about two miles round trip to a swimmable plunge pool downstream. Or take the short, rugged Eagle Falls trail for the postcard angle of the big falls.
The Moonbow
On clear nights around a full moon, the mist bends moonlight into a pale, real, spine-tingling night rainbow. Windows run a few nights either side of each full moon — confirm exact dates and times on the park's moonbow page before driving.
